Basel, Switzerland, December 2008 – Evolva SA, an international biotech company focused on the discovery and development of drugs based on genetic chemistry approaches, today announced the filing of a Clinical Trial Application (CTA) for EV-077-3201-2TBS. This is a new chemical entity that is being developed for reduction of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in patients who are hypo-responders or resistant to Aspirin and/or Clopidogrel.
Basel, Switzerland, and Palo Alto, CA, USA , December 12th 2008 – Evolva SA, a biotech company that develops drugs with genetic chemistry, announced the opening of a research center in Palo Alto, CA, that will serve as the US center of operations for wholly-owned subsidiary Genetic Chemistry, Inc. (GCI).
Basel, Switzerland, November 2008 – Evolva today announced that it has received a $288,000 award from the Cleveland Clinic led Global Cardiovascular Innovation Center (GCIC). The funding is to advance the development of Evolva’s EV-077 compound series for cardiovascular disease and to explore the formation of a dedicated cardiovascular clinical unit to be based in Cleveland, Ohio.
Dr. Jessica Mann, MD, PhD is a cardiologist with long-standing experience in the cardiovascular and metabolic drug development arena; in particular as Medical Director and member of the Management group at Speedel, which has recently been sold to Novartis for $880 million. Before joining Speedel, Jessica worked for Roche and Novartis.
In her current role as Company Head of CVDC GmbH she provides medical input and support to pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, banks and investment funds.
Evolva facility recognized by the Government
Secunderabad, India, August 2008 - Evolva’s Genetic Chemistry Laboratory, has received recognition from the Government of India’s Department of Science and Industrial Research (DSIR).
Genetic Chemistry Inc. (Palo Alto, USA), a subsidiary of Evolva SA (Basel, Switzerland) announced today that it has signed a contract with the US Army Research Office (ARO), working in conjunction with the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), to discover novel therapeutics against the gram negative bacterial pathogen Burkholderia pseudomallei (a CDC category B bioterrorism agent that causes the disease melioidosis).
Jakob D. Hansen has joined Evolva SA, the Swiss-based biotech company, as Chief Financial Officer.
Jakob, a Danish national, has extensive experience from both the biotech and the financial industry. Before joining Evolva, he was a financial advisor to several life science companies in Denmark. From 1999 to 2005, he was CFO at Zealand Pharma in Copenhagen, responsible for managing four financing rounds and two major licensing negotiations.
Evolva SA and Summit have entered into a collaboration for co-development of immuno-modulators for the treatment and prevention of certain infectious diseases. The aim of the collaboration is to bring one or more compounds to the IND stage, at which point the two parties will decide the further development.
The joint venture combines Summit’s expertise in carbohydrate chemistry, including existing compounds, with Evolva’s ongoing activities in identification and development of new anti-infectives.
Sandy Dobbie has been elected new chairman at Evolva SA. The former chairman, Jean-Philippe Tripet, Managing Partner of Aravis Venture, will remain a member of the board of Evolva.
Evolva led consortium received € 3.4 million for funding a three year cancer research program on protein-protein interaction. The project brings together some of Europe’s leading biotech SME’s and several highly recognized academic institutes. By combining distinct chemical approaches and testing them on different targets a series of innovative small-ligand tools and libraries that allow new approaches to the inhibition of PPI in cancer will be developed. The project will begin January 2007.
