Evolva is engaged with in the Transformational Medical Technologies Initiative (TMTI) of the US Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) to discover compounds that improve a human’s ability to resist infection by various pathogens. The goal of this program is to develop compounds to Investigational New Drug application level with the FDA.

Evolva and Functional Genetics Inc. have merged their respective expertise in small molecule discovery and host based therapeutics to discover novel anti-virals. This program is also funded under the TMTI initiative and its goal is to deliver compounds to Investigational New Drug application level with the FDA.

In DIVINOCELL (an EC-funded FP7 initiative) Evolva is part of a consortium of companies and academic laboratories. The goal of the program is to find compounds that curb the proliferation and viability of Gram-negative bacterial pathogens by inhibiting their machinery for cell division. Further information on this program can be found at http://www.cnb.csic.es/~divinocell/.

The American subsidiary of Evolva SA, Genetic Chemistry Inc. has been mandated by the US Army Research Office (ARO) to discover compounds that inhibit the growth of the gram negative bacterial pathogen Burkholderia pseudomallei. The targets in this program have potential utility for other gram negative bacteria.

In January 2010, Evolva signed an agreement with Roche to create compounds with activity on targets in oncology and anti-infectives using Evolva’s Genetic Chemistry approach.
