Blair biocampus lands $60M Evolva project

Swiss fermentation company Evolva has entered into a long-term collaboration agreement with Cargill estimated at $60 million for the production and commercialization of a new stevia sweetener and other products at Blair’s biocampus.

Over the next three years, Evolva expects to invest an estimated $60 million in combined fermentation and bioprocessing facilities, the company announced April 3.

“Nebraska is well-suited to helping us build global production for our products, not least because of the state’s green energy and renewable feedstock, well-known fermentation talent and ample room to expand,” Neil Goldsmith, president of Evolva, said in a release Monday. “We hope to bring value to the regional bio-based innovation and development network, building infrastructure that will ultimately form a fully integrated commercial-scale bioprocessing hub for the production of sustainable, high-value, next-generation specialty and functional ingredients.”
