Sandy Dobbie Chair
Sandy Dobbie has c. 30 years of international experience from the chemical industry, including several executive positions. With a PhD in Chemistry, the first part of his career was in R&D, manufacturing and marketing at Kelco (a subsidiary of Merck & Co.), where he became head of international operations. For more than 18 years, he has had board and management positions in US, UK and German companies, including two public companies in the UK. In 2001, he co-founded Cogency, a consulting company which provides specialist advice to Private Equity and Corporate clients investing in chemicals and pharmaceuticals. Sandy has an excellent track record in leading high-growth companies and in executing turnarounds and he has spearheaded several successful M&A transactions.
Neil Goldsmith Managing Director & CEO
20 year track record in building biotech companies from foundation to exit. Of previous companies 5 achieved stock market listings, 1 a successful trade sale, 1 remains private and 3 failed. Previous companies include: TopoTarget, Personal Chemistry, Phytera, PNAD, BIAcore, Quadrant. BA Hons (1st class) in Zoology from Balliol College, University of Oxford. Co-founder.
Jean-Philippe Tripet
Managing Partner of Venture Associates. 15 years experience as a portfolio manager and a financial analyst. He has a degree in business administration from the University of Geneva, did graduate studies in San Diego (USA) and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Co-founded in 1994 the Lombard Odier Immunology fund that became one of the most successful healthcare funds in Europe, topping SFr. 3,5 bn in 2000 and showing an IRR of 40% p.a. under his supervision. Senior manager of that fund from inception until end 2000, and supervised over 70 private investments, investing over SFr. 400mn, producing an IRR of 70% p.a. Previously Executive VP and member of the Group Management at Lombard Odier & Cie, a Geneva private bank.

Participated actively in the launch and financing of many successful start-up companies such as Modex, Novimmune, Cytos, Genedata, Esbatech and Novalon (acquired by Karo Bio).
Prof. Jutta Heim
Jutta Heim is CSO of Basilea, a Swiss biopharmaceutical company. Prior to joining Basilea, worked for 22 years in Switzerland and USA for Ciba-Geigy/Novartis, where she was involved in the successful development and launch of biopharmaceutical anti-thrombotic and fibrinolytic products; initiated a molecular genetics department in oncology and became Novartis' Senior Scientific Expert in Molecular Biology and a member of the Research Management Board. Most recently she headed the Novartis Lead Discovery Center with worldwide responsibility. Published numerous papers in the areas of natural products, recombinant proteins and applied molecular biology, in particular in the area of oncology. Holds a professorship in Biotechnology at the Biocenter of the University of Basel.
Steen Helde Hemmingsen
Senior Investment Manager with Dansk Erhvervsinvestering since 2000. Before joining the venture capital industry in 1995, was President & CEO of Carlsberg Biotechnology Ltd. for 7 years and prior to that he worked for 17 years at Novo Industry A/S as R&D and Business Manager. Has an MSc in biochemistry from the Danish Technical University (DTU) in 1967 and worked for 2 years as scientist at DTU before joining Novo.
